The cobalt chop plate pictured above is in beautiful condition with hardly any light use scratches. There is a small area of rough spots in the glaze on the outside rim, between 1/3 and 1/2 inches long, which looks as though it is an area of three to four tiny flea bites colored in later with a marker to disguise them. They are very inconspicuous, and I could not get a clear photo. The red one has no chips, cracks or crazing and only a few light use scratches. The plates pictured below are all long gone but I've retained the photos for reference. Thirteen-inch chop plates are actually a little over 12 inches in diameter and were produced in the all of the original and 50's colors. While they are often marked with an ink stamp on the back (GENUINE / fiesta / HLCO USA), they are also commonly found unmarked. Please note that in the middle photo below, both the red and ivory plates have a double foot ring; this is a common variation. |
