Recently, I ran across some of these bowls, twelve of them. I could only buy them as a set (of TWELVE!) and I only needed six so here are the other six. The bowls are 4.5" in diameter; with the handles, they are about 6.5". Only one of the six shows fine crazing on the inside but this is not visible on its outside. What's really amazing about these little guys is that they aren't scratched up, even on their bases.

Vintage Ovenserve Polychrome Cake / Pie Server - $31.00

Polychrome is the name of this particular decoration. Although I cannot date the piece exactly, it was probably produced sometime in the 1940's. Polychrome is one of my Ovenserve favorites - it is so being bright and cheerful. This one appears to have been unused with no chips, cracks or scratches.

Pumpkin 12-inch ovenserve mixing bowl

  1. This pumpkin-colored Oven Serve large mixing bowl is an impressive 12 and a half inches in diameter and a little over 5.5 inches tall (the first one that I have seen of this size). It works great as a bread bowl or sitting on the table, filled with fruit or chips (lots of chips!)

  2. There are use scratches inside on the very bottom, with only one pin-head sized spot where the white clay shows through. On the outside rim of the bowl, there is a little fold in the clay, shown in the photo to the left.

  3. On the bottom rim, there is a blackened, pre-fire chip (factory) along with another clay fold where there is incomplete glaze coverage. The base is ink-stamped with the entwined HLC sympol / HOMER LAUGHLIN / NOT FOR OVEN USE / MADE IN U.S.A.

  4. No longer available here. I love this one and am using it as a table centerpiece right now (because, after much soul-searching, I sold it to ME)!
