I found this casserole shown in a photo of a page from a 1901 Homer Laughlin Company Catalogue - see Homer Laughlin China Guide to Shapes and Patterns by Jo Cunningham and Darlene Nossman, p. 54 (2002). It is a beautiful example of the company's early work and is at least a century old. On the inside of the lid is stamped the number 4721. This is under the clear glaze and may be the decal or decoration number since a specific design was commonly numbered, not named, by the factory. Sold | ||

Classic white sauce boat in excellent condition (no chips, cracks, crazing, etc.). Please note the base mark shown in the right-hand photo. This mark was used up until 1904 and shows the Laughlin eagle over the British lion, all inside a circular band with the words "Laughlin semi-vitreous china". The "Colonial" designation is stamped below. Sold | ||
