Vintage Homer Laughlin Art China

Laughlin Art China Monk Pitcher and Tankards

pitcher monk closeup 1 LAC pitcher and six mugs set pitcher monk closeup 2

The merry monks are having a get-together.
Join them with this pitcher and six mugs.

Mug decals

Two of the mugs have decals like the one on the right in the left-hand photo; the other four, as on the left in the same picture. Note in the right-hand photo the slight discoloration that you can see on the bases.

Mug crack

The mug just to the left has a crack running down about 1.5 inches from the rim.
There are no chips or cracks on any of the other pieces.

Although none of the pieces are marked, they are definitely vintage HLC; the pitcher shape is shown in photos on plates 635 and 681 of Huxfords' 10th edition and the mug shape is always unmistakeable! I also have the same pitcher and mug shapes, same decals, on other marked LAC pitchers and mugs.

Sold (well actually these went to my little sister for Christmas!)

Laughlin Art China Trumpet Vase

12 inch LAC Trumpet Vase The Base of the Vase 1 scratch, 1 tiny bit of extra clay

12" LAC Trumpet Vase

The Base of the Vase

1 scratch, 1 tiny bit of extra clay

This vase is almost exactly 12" tall. There is no loss of the brown shading at the top and bottom, a common problem in these pieces. The delicate floral decal is crisp and undamaged with shades of white, yellow, green and orange. There is very little crazing visible either outside or inside.

The base is not marked with the Laughlin eagle and the "Laughlin Art China" designation. Instead, it says COMPLIMENTS OF / O. E. OSLUND / MILACA, MINN.

Please note the tiny bit of extra clay near the base. It shows up as a white spot, but is not white. That is just glare; it is completely covered with the brown shading. Another white spot in the photo, above and to the right of the clay bit, is the only scratch that I could find on this near-perfect piece.
