GeoCaching DB v1

I love to GeoCache and use my Visor (Palm Device) as well, So I made this handy little data base to serve as a Log Book while out hunting those Caches.

Cache List

There are four screens to list the caches.

When you select from any page you are sent to that record.

You can enter data about the cache, Duplicate the record as a new record, Even Beam a cache record to a friend.	A alarm can be set for each Cache record. A alarm will sound and the record will be called up (even if the palm is turned off)

Notes about the cache can be cut and pasted from other app.s or entered directly here.	I found this very useful when hunting several caches a day.

Doodle Pad

Erase Mode


Doodle anything you wish, maps, symbols, what ever you want for each cache record.	To erase a mistake on the doodle pad. Do the upper case stroke (touch the alpha area and drag streight up). you will be in erase mode (indicated by the up arrow icon). (tap tap) will return you to draw mode (arrow disapears).

Special instructions:

When entering new data on the GeoCacheDB, enter the Cache ID # first or it will not sort properly.

Printing?

There is a sperate PC app. TBReports that will print reports from the GeocachingDB.pdb file that is sync'ed to the PC.

Download and install TBReports (free if you use my reports)
Download my Reports for GeocachingDB v1 (I have regestered and compiled these reports for you)
Open my reports and see your data on screen as it will be printed on the printer.

note:

TBReports uses the files in the backup area for the current user in the Palm Desktop,
if you have 2 PDA devces on 1 PC this is how you switch to each PDAs data area for printing.

Conduit for PC?

Future versions will include a PC app to add, delete, edit.. and what ever to the data base file

Upgrade

If you are upgrading from V1 to V2 see known issues for importaint information.

Known Issues

Upgrading from v1 to v2 are: Due to loss of v1 source files and changes in the app to created the program with.

Problem	Solution
I deleted v1 and installed v2demo, now my data is gone	Deleteing v1 from the palm will delete the program and all data files to clean up space. before you delete v1 copy GeocachingDB.pdb (located in c:\program files\Palm\{user name}\backup) to a floppy or other safe area. now delete v1 from your palm and install v2demo and the data that you stored in a safe place.
The data fields that may not transfer at all. Date, Lat (N/S), Lon (E/W), Alarm, Notes	These must be typed in again or (cut and paste) from note pad files created before upgrade. if you have a lot of data you may want to print a complete report of all caches before upgrading to v.2
The field will transfer but not properly. Draw pad (over sized)	This is easy to fix, while looking at the oversized draw pad file, choose (Notes, or T/L) then back to (draw). This will crop the drawing to the correct size.
